Sikth adalah sebuah Band progressive metal dari Watford, Hertfordshire, Inggris, didirikan pada tahun 1999. Mereka disebut sebagai salah satu pengaruh utama gerakan Djent dalam dunia progressive metal, bersama Meshuggah.

Sejarah

Awal Karier (1999–2002)

Formasi awal SikTh adalah duet Vokalis Mikee Goodman dan Justin Hill, gitaris Dan Weller dan Graham Pinney, bassis James Leach dan drummer/perkusionis Dan Foord.

Keluaran resmi pertama mereka adalah sebuah EP berjudul Let the Transmitting Begin. Dirilis tahun 2002, EP ini menyajikan 3 lagu.

Keluaran resmi pertama bersama label Gut Records[1] adalah sebuah EP berjudul How May I Help You? Dirilis tahun 2002, EP ini menyajikan 3 lagu. Lagu "How May I Help You?" berkisah tentang seseorang bernama Rodney yang hidupnya penuh dengan derita dan kepedihan. Lagu ini dibuat video musik animasi, yang ditulis, dan diproduksi oleh Mikee Goodman. Video itu memenangi best video award di The Big Cheese Magazine, dan juga nomor 1 di MTV UK, dan menjadi A-list video di MTV Asia.

Album Debut (2003–2005)

Album debut SikTh adalah The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out Wait for Something Wild yang dirilis pada 18 Agustus 2003 dengan label Gut Records. Album diproduksi Sikth sendiri, bersama Andrew Scarth. Mixing dilakukan oleh Colin Richardson. Album ini telah berhasil terjual sebanyak 30,000 kopi di UK, Jepang dan Australia.

Album kedua (2006–2007)

Band ini kembali pada 2006 dengan album penuh keduanya berjudul Death of a Dead Day. Album ini dirilis di UK pada 26 Juni 2006 bersama label baru Bieler Bros. Records.

Perginya sang vokalis dan hiatus (2007–2013)

Pada 8 Mei 2007, vokalis Mikee Goodman dan Justin Hill mengumumkan akan keluar dari band seusai Tour "The Black Summer Starts Here" tahun 2007.

Gaya dan Jenis Musik

Gaya dan Jenis musik Sikth susah untuk dimasukkan ke dalam satu jenis musik tertentu. Tapi beberapa pihak memasukkan mereka ke aliran Proggressive Metal. Musik mereka tidak lazim, temponya tidak tetap, melodinya tidak konstan dan tingkat kerumitannya sangat tinggi, suara vokalnya growl dengan dua nada tapi terkadang membentuk suara harmonis. Sang vokalis mengatakan bahwa musik mereka sangat berenergi.
