Akínwándé Olúwo̩lé Babátúndé S̩óyíinká atau nama pena beliau Wole Soyinka [wɔlé ʃójĩnká, wo.lé syo.ying.ka] (lahir 13 Julai 1934) adalah seorang penulis, penyair dan dramawan Nigeria. Beliau melibatkan diri juga sebagai pensyarah mengajar seni dan sastera tidak sahaja dalam negaranya malah juga sejauh institut-institut dunia Barat seperti Universiti Oxford di UK serta Cornell (1988 to 1991)[2][3] Harvard dan Yale di Amerika Syarikat[4][5] Beliau dikenali atas kelantangannya mengkritik penindasan kediktatoran dan ketidakadilan yang melanda tidak sahaja negaranya - terutamanya semasa dalam rejim Sani Abacha di mana beliau menjadi buruan - tetapi juga orang kuat serantau seperti Robert Mugabe.[6]
Beliau merupakan penerima kehormatan Hadiah Nobel dalam Kesusasteraan pada tahun 1986 yang pertama dari rantau benua Afrika luar Sahara.[7][8] Pada tahun 1994, dia dilantik oleh UNESCO sebagai Duta Muhibah mempromosikan budaya, hak asasi manusia, kebebasan berekspresi, media dan komunikasi Afrika.
Biografi
Awal hidup
Akínwándé lahir di kota Abẹokuta, Negeri Ogun anak kedua daripada tujuh adik-beradik kepada Samuel Ayodele Soyinka (whom he called S.A. or "Essay"), seorang paderi Anglikan dan pengetua sebuah sekolah gereja, dan Grace Eniola Soyinka, seorang aktivis dan peniaga. Keluarganya berbangsa Yoruba, malah mereka sebahagian daripada suatu salasilah keluarga berpengaruh di negerinya; antara saudara-maranya Fela Kuti, seorang pemuzik terkenal dan Beko Ransome-Kuti, seorang aktivis.[9]
