Alternantera[5], krąglatka[6] (Alternanthera) – rodzaj roślin należących do rodziny szarłatowatych. Obejmuje ok. 110[4]–200[7] gatunków roślin rocznych, bylin i krzewów występujących w strefie międzyzwrotnikowej[6], głównie w Ameryce Południowej i Północnej. Wiele gatunków zostało szeroko rozpowszechnionych[7]. Niektóre gatunki są roślinami pokarmowymi, leczniczymi i ozdobnymi[6], w tym uprawianymi jako rośliny akwariowe[8].

Morfologia

Pokrój
Rośliny płożące się lub wznoszące o pędach silnie rozgałęzionych[7].
Liście
Naprzeciwległe, całobrzegie, siedzące lub krótkoogonkowe.
Kwiaty
Zebrane w główkowate lub kłosowate kwiatostany, wzniesione lub zwisające, wyrastające pojedynczo w kątach liści. Listków okwiatu 5, zwykle błoniastych, nierównych, zwykle białych lub zielonawych. Pręcików 2–5, zalążnia kulista lub owalna z pojedynczym zalążkiem, szyjka słupka różnej długości zakończona jest główkowatym znamieniem[7][6].
Owoce
Niełupki kuliste lub owalne, opadające wraz z trwałym okwiatem[7].

Systematyka

Rodzaj należy do rodziny szarłatowatych (Amaranthaceae), która znajduje się w politomii z grupami siostrzanymi Achatocarpaceae i goździkowatych Caryophyllaceae. Tworzy wraz z nimi i z szeregiem innych rodzin rząd goździkowców w obrębie dwuliściennych właściwych.
